Lecce’s Tiago Gabriel has been one of the best defenders in Serie A this season, subsequently West Ham have now come forward for the 20-year-old.
So far this season, the Portuguese defender has played 11 times in the Italian top-flight. He’s impressed with his on-ground defending and has also been very dominant aerially.
Attention around Gabriel is growing, and Gazzetta dello Sport take a closer look at him today.
The newspaper report West Ham have made an ‘official offer’ for the youngster already. The Hammers have put forward €18m but this has been rejected by Lecce.
This is because the Italian side value the centre-back at €25m. That valuation is said to be applicable for the summer, which suggests that Lecce aren’t interested in a January sale.
The report provides a little encouragement to West Ham. It claims that interest from England is currently the ‘biggest threat’ for Lecce.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side aren’t the only Premier League club keen on the defender. This is because TuttoSport claimed on Monday that Brentford are also monitoring Gabriel but face competition from Inter Milan.
