Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that they’ve held talks with Anthony Gordon over a move from Newcastle United this summer.

BILD report on comments from the Bayern Munich director today. He was speaking at BILD 100 with their sports editor Henning Feindt.

“Good conversation”

Reports over the last few weeks have made it clear that Bayern Munich are keen on signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United this summer.

The German giants are keen to add a forward to Vincent Kompany’s squad and reportedly see the Newcastle forward as an idea addition.

Reports have made it clear that talks have already taken place with Gordon’s representatives. The 25-year-old is keen on the move to Munich. The problem at this moment in time, is Newcastle demanding around €86m for a transfer to take place.

Now, Eberl has been questioned on the possible move. And he’s not only confirmed talks with Gordon, but also their intention to sign a forward.

“We agree that we will sign an attacking player if he can be financed,” he said.

When asked if Gordon wants to join Bayern, he explained: “We had a very good conversation and hope we can make progress.”

Bayern Munich confidence

That confident tone from Eberl regarding Anthony Gordon is the latest sign from Bayern Munich that they believe they can get a deal done this summer.

Sport Witness covered a report earlier this month explaining that confidence was growing over the possible transfer. Indeed, it has been explained that Gordon is also leaning towards pushing for the move.

That is perhaps where Eberl’s confidence comes from after speaking to the player and his entourage. The biggest obstacle at this point certainly seems to be Newcastle, and their asking price.

But it’s likely that Bayern have a plan in place for that. They certainly don’t want to pay the current asking price. And with Newcastle missing out on Europe, it’s unlikely that they’ll need to either.
