Pape Sarr left Tottenham late in the summer transfer window and joined Juventus on a loan deal. There is growing belief he could be a key player for the Old Lady.
Sport Witness tracked the midfielder’s situation constantly. After Spurs’ first two games of the campaign, it became clear he isn’t a part of Roberto De Zerbi’s plans and Juve latched onto the chance quickly.
Sarr joined on an initial loan with a conditional obligation to buy. If certain specific conditions are met, Juve will pay a fee of £23.6m to sign the player permanently, ending his rather chaotic spell at Tottenham.
The midfielder has made three appearances for the Bianconeri and has shown signs of what he is capable of.
Belief he could be a special player
Pundit and former player Andrea Stramaccioni spoke to DAZN after Juve’s 2-0 win over Atalanta. The tie saw Sarr come off the bench and make a mark in the second-half with his ability to carry the ball forward.
He had also made an appearance in the second half in the loss to Sassuolo, starting against NEC Nijmegen in the Europa League.
Stramaccioni expressed belief that it is increasingly clear where Sarr’s strengths lie on the pitch.
He said – via TuttoJuve: “Sarr? I liked the way he came in. He struggled at Sassuolo, but I liked him against Atalanta. He touched the ball a lot, he has this run of pace, and it shows what kind of player he is.”
Stramaccioni further noted that Sarr has also shown a creative side and could soon become a key player in Turin.
“80% of the tackles won are his, but it’s not just that, he has that through ball in his arsenal, and if he can find it in the future, he could become something important.”

Our take: Next few months key
Juve have a bit of an injury crisis in midfield, with Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram out until 2027. The Frenchman’s injury is one reason why Sarr was signed and Locatelli’s exclusion will only help the Tottenham loanee.
Initially, Sarr himself had fitness issues to sort out but they’re now well out of his way. In fact, he came close to scoring against NEC and has shown his work-ethic in Serie A.
That is why the next few months will be vital. He will get the chance to become a first-choice in the heart of the park. Juve’s presence in the Europa League will make sure he gets enough minutes and if he does make a mark, the 24-year-old should be signed permanently.
