Chelsea are in the picture for Ajax defender Nicolás Tagliafico, according to reports from Argentina.
The 29-year-old is in demand and is attracting interest from various clubs across Europe, including the Blues.
TyC Sports state Barcelona have the left-back on ther radar and have followed him closely while in action for the Eredivisie side.
The Catalan club looked at the Argentina international in the last market, but failed to secure his services. Barca have rekindled their interest and have initiated contact with his camp.
Apart from Xavi Hernández’s side, Marseille and the Champions League winners are also tagged. The Ligue 1 side intend to take the defender on loan with a purchase option, but Erik ten Hag’s side have not accepted these conditions.
Tagliafico is ‘wanted’ by Chelsea and in order to strengthen the left side of their defence, they have targeted the South American. However, Thomas Tuchel’s side have not made a formal offer so far for the Ajax fullback.
It’s claimed there was a meeting between Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars and the player’s agent to ‘try to move forward’. The Argentine’s contract expires in 2023.
Marseille have completed a deal for Sead Kolašinac and this would mean Chelsea and Barca will have less competition, if they are genuinely keen to sign the fullback.
It’s to be noted Tyc Sports doesn’t specify whether the clubs mentioned in the report are looking at Tagliafico for the January window or next summer.
