It now appears to be a straight shoot out between Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner and Como’s Cesc Fabregas for the RB Leipzig job.

That’s according to journalist Phillipp Hinze’s latest information anyway, with him reporting that Fabregas and Glasner are now the two names being seriously considered.

He reports that the Crystal Palace manager and the Como manager are now the top candidates for Leipzig as they look for a new manager for next season.

According to his and Sky’s information, the Italian side feel that Fabregas wants a change of scenery in the summer. Moving is a serious, concrete option for the Spaniard. Leipzig are yet to receive a rejection and are fully involved in the poker game for him.

Glasner also remains in the mix, although his requirements are different. He is a Premier League manager with one-year remaining on his Crystal Palace contract whereas Fabregas is a shareholder in Como and head coach.

It’s made clear that both would cost a transfer fee for Leipzig to get, but the German side would like to stay in the single digit million range on that front.

That seems unlikely to happen with Glasner and Crystal Palace, with his Premier League wages sure to be high even if he only has a year remaining on his deal at Selhurst Park. It is also worth remembering the fees Crystal Palace demanded from Bayern Munich for him a year ago.

They’ll have no intention of making life easy for Leipzig, particularly after a year that’s seen them reach the FA Cup final under Glasner’s guidance.
