On April 14th, Swansea City announced Real Madrid star Luka Modric as their new co-owner and investor.

Hannes Delcroix was on loan at Swansea City for the second half of the season and has now left the Welsh club.

The defender has been speaking to Gazet van Antwerpen, where he stated the new Swans owner sent a message during the club’s end of season awards ceremony.

“He sent a video message at our Player Awards. He’ll probably come by again, but I’m not there anymore, you know,” he said.

The centre-back joined the Championship side on loan from Burnley in the winter market. He explained his move to Swansea City took shape due to Scott Parker’s decision to leave him out at Turf Moor.

Delcroix suffered a serious injury in April and was out of action until November. Since he regained full fitness, Parke didn’t consider him, and it convinced him to leave the Clarets for Swansea City.

“He indicated that we were six or seven players for two positions. The team was also doing very well. I understood that I could better gain playing time elsewhere. After which I was loaned to Swansea, where I was able to play 12 matches without injuries,” Delcroix explained.

The Belgium international joined Burnley in August 2023, when Vincent Kompany was in charge. The defender’s girlfriend accompanied him to England but not to Wales when he joined Swansea City on loan.

He said: “I went there alone, Swansea is four hours by train from where we live, below Manchester, because it was only for a few months.

“For my girlfriend and our children, a move would have been too much hassle. Just now that everyone here has adjusted. When our children play, they even speak English to each other.”

Delcroix will return to Burnley, who have been promoted to the Premier League.
