Alejandro Balde has held a meeting with super-agent Jorge Mendes today after Manchester United made contact to sign him late in the window.

Jijantes provide footage of the player, as well as teammate Marc Casado, leaving Barcelona today after reported meetings.

The outlet reports that the two players met with their agent, Mendes, to discuss their futures at the Camp Nou. The midfielder is reportedly close to finalising his departure from the club. There is no mention of his next destination.

The full-back, meanwhile, does not have a transfer sealed at this point. But crucially, no scenario is being ruled out for the 22-year-old at this point.

Manchester United interest

That should come as interesting news to Manchester United. Sport Witness covered a report today explaining that they are exploring a deal for the Barcelona full-back.

That report explained that Manchester United are in the market for a left-back and looking at various options. Balde is one of the names on their list.

Indeed, he has been on the shortlist at Manchester United for a while. Earlier this year, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain detailing that interest.

The report from Spanish newspaper Sport today insisting that Manchester United had contacted Jorge Mendes to ask about the potential conditions of a transfer. The agent was in Barcelona on Friday for direct discussions with Barcelona about his clients at the club.

Jorge Mendes talks

In fact, Mundo Deportivo report that Balde’s name had come up in discussions ‘in connections with a possible move to Manchester United’.

Now Balde has met with the agent to discuss his future. It is highly likely that the Manchester United option was discussed in that meeting.

Whether it translates into a move to Old Trafford remains to be seen. But the wheels are in motion, and things are happening behind the scenes, largely driven by Mendes and his series of Barcelona-based meetings.
