Aston Villa are edging closer towards signing Leon Goretzka, after overcoming competition from other clubs.
The 31-year-old has been without a club since leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season.
This has seen him attract interest from several clubs, including Aston Villa. Back in March, he talked about his desire to play in a new competitive league.
At that time, he said: “Maybe it’s my last chance to go abroad. I really want to play competitive football again. We’ll see what opportunities arise. I’m just going to let things unfold.”
“Who doesn’t like sunshine, right? But I’m certainly not going to base my next move on the weather. We’ll find something nice.”

Sky posted a picture of the player with a text that says he has completed his medical with the English club. This means he accepts a move to Villa Park and will sign a two/three-year contract.
To sum it up, Aston Villa have to make his signing official and only that step is pending to formalise the operation.
