Melvin Gomes isn’t entertaining Chelsea‘s interest in order to commit his future to AS Monaco.
The Premier League side have already dealt with Monaco for Lamine Camara towards the end of the summer window.
On August 31st, Chelsea reached an agreement in principle with the Ligue 1 side to sign the midfielder for €45m.
Monaco initially blocked the deal in order to sell Folarin Balogun to Everton. When the American’s move collapsed, the former again contacted the Blues to revive the operation for Camara.
In the end, the 22-year-old Senegal international didn’t secure a move to Stamford Bridge on deadline day.
Last week, Camara said he wanted to join Chelsea when talking about his “somewhat turbulent and difficult time” after his failed move to the Premier League side.
Chelsea to miss out on another Monaco man
The Senegalese midfielder isn’t the only Monaco player that the Blues are missing out on as Melvin Gomes now joins the list.

The defender received ‘strong interest from Chelsea’, who contacted him with a contract offer.
There’s no mention of the details and it won’t matter because the centre-back is not open to a Chelsea move. He’s now on the verge of signing his first professional contract with the Ligue 1 side and will sign a three-year contract this week.
Who is Melvin Gomes
The Marseille-born defender left SC Air Bel Jugend as a free agent and joined AS Monaco’s academy in 2023.
He was initially part of their U17 side and made 26 appearances, of which 24 were from the 2024/25 season. Last summer, Monaco promoted Melvin Gomes to their U19 squad, and he played 19 matches.
Earlier in the summer, the defender made his way into Monaco U21s. He prefers to play in the heart of the defence and can also operate as a right-back. Gomes has also played for France U18 and U19s so far.
L’Equipe states: ‘He is considered a player with very high potential in the youth market.’
It won’t be a surprise if Chelsea keep a close watch on the youngster’s development at Monaco.
