Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana wants to join Sevilla this month, with talks underway to make the move happen.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says the striker’s loan move to FC Union Berlin is on the verge of cancellation.
Fofana has been with the Bundesliga side since the summer after joining them on loan in search of regular playing time to help him develop away from Stamford Bridge.
The loan has proven to be something of a disaster, though, with the 21-year-old only featuring in 51% of the available minutes in the Bundesliga this season.
He’s managed just one goal in 12 game so far this season and all indications have been that Union Berlin and Chelsea would look at the matter this month.
Plettenberg now says those talks are underway and the loan deal is ‘on the verge of cancellation’, with the ‘final details being clarified today.’
That’s because the striker wants to join Spanish side Sevilla instead. His interest in that move has been confirmed and negotiations on that deal are advanced but not yet finalised.
That deal would presumably be another loan deal until the end of the season, with the details set to be finalised once his deal with Union Berlin has been cancelled officially by Chelsea.
