Aston Villa are still pursing Lyon’s Pavel Šulc, after making an approach during the summer window.

He joined Lyon from Viktoria Plzeň in August 2025 and managing 15 goals and 10 assists from 42 matches for Lyon last season.

The attacking midfielder’s impressive performances in his debut season at the Ligue 1 side had caught the attention of Aston Villa and a few other clubs.

Unai Emery’s side weren’t able to take him away from Lyon. That hasn’t stopped the Villans from maintaining their interest in the Czech Republic international.

In August, Sport Witness covered a report from France explaining that the Premier League side had made contact. Lyon manager Paulo Fonseca confirmed growing interest in the 25-year-old.

At that time, he said: “We know that Pavel had a great last season and that he’s a player other clubs are watching.”

Pavel Šulc is yet to score and has three assists for Lyon this season. However, that hasn’t stopped the Europa League winners and others from pursuing him.

Aston Villa are still keen and Tutto Juve covers the latest when reporting about Juventus. The latter had looked at him in the summer but weren’t able to convince him with their proposal. He’s back on their agenda.

Juventus worry about Aston Villa and Atlético

The Serie A side have to overcome two major obstacles to secure his services and it won’t be easy.

Juventus will face ‘fierce competition’ from the Villa Park club and Atlético Madrid. These two clubs have already shown interest and continue to chase Pavel Šulc. This is the first obstacle.

The Czech has a contract until 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €20m. The French club, who paid €7.5m to Viktoria Plzeň a year ago, have set a €50m. This shows they are ready to sell him if a suitor were to match their demand.

Lyon are firm with their position and are refusing to offer a discount. The price is high for the Turin club, and this is another obstacle.

Although Aston Villa are still keen, there’s no indication whether they are willing to meet Lyon’s €50m price.
