Leeds United and Ipswich Town are interested in Racing Santander striker Yassir Zabiri following his flying start to the season.

The striker has managed seven goals in eight games in La Liga this season after joining on loan from Rennes in the summer transfer window.

He currently has the same number of goals as Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe – joint second in La Liga – and a better minute per goals ratio than both. He’s average a goal every 68 minutes so far.

His goal conversion rate of 41% is also second best among La Liga’s top goal-scorers. Only Raphinha, top goalscorer on 12 with a 48% conversion rate, has a better number so far.

Leeds and Ipswich scouts sent

Africa Foot report that his performances have put him on the radar at Ipswich Town and Leeds United. Both sides are showing serious interest in the Morocco forward.

Both have sent scouts to Spain to observe the 21-year-old in action firsthand.

They are keen to gauge his potential and room for growth. That’s particularly the case as his market value could continue to rise given his ongoing performances.

Racing Santander want to keep the forward. His contract situation could make things difficult for them. His loan deal does not include an option to buy.

They’ve already initiated talks with Rennes to try and make that happen. An official bid has already been submitted to the French side as well. Africa Foot don’t share the details of that bid as yet.

€20m valuation

For reference, Transfermarkt currently value him at €20m.

That would already see Rennes double their money on the €10m they paid to sign him from Famalicão in February this year.

He struggled in France, managing just six appearances and 42 minutes before the end of last season. It’s unclear what their future plans for him are.

His performances on loan are already earning attention. Leeds and Ipswich are already sending scouts and are keen on the La Liga sensation.
