Chelsea’s plan is to send Tomás Aranda straight to Strasbourg if they complete a deal for the Boca Juniors youngster in 2027.
That’s the new possibility being put forward in Argentina, with Chelsea’s interest in Aranda already well established.
We covered last week that the Blues were considering an offer of up to €12.8m (£11.1m). They wanted to make their move at the beginning of next year.
Now the same outlet, El Crack Deportivo, has added another piece to the puzzle. Aranda could be bought by Chelsea and then immediately loaned to Strasbourg.
Strasbourg route now suggested
El Crack Deportivo raises Strasbourg as a possible first destination for Aranda following a Chelsea deal. The Argentine outlet points towards Aaron Anselmino when explaining the idea.
Chelsea also bought the defender from Boca, although his route after leaving Argentina was different. He spent time with Borussia Dortmund before later joining Strasbourg. So Aranda could apparently take the more direct route and move straight to France.
It’s worth stressing that this isn’t being presented as a settled plan. There’s no suggestion Chelsea have already having agreed a move with Strasbourg. It’s just being floated as a possibility alongside their continued pursuit of the Boca youngster.
The thing is that would certainly fit with the wider BlueCo structure and give Chelsea another option when deciding how to handle Aranda’s development.
Chelsea still looking towards 2027
The proposed numbers haven’t changed from last week’s report. Chelsea are still said to be considering a maximum offer of €12.8m (£11.1m), with a move targeted for the beginning of 2027.
The Boca number 10 fractured his right fibula in training last month and subsequently underwent surgery. He’s now going through rehabilitation and isn’t expected to play again in 2026.
Despite that, Chelsea’s interest hasn’t gone away. Boca, meanwhile, have Aranda tied down until December 2029. Aston Villa, Inter Milan, Como and Fiorentina are also named as clubs keeping an eye on him.
In the end, a move to England may not necessarily be Aranda’s immediate next step. Strasbourg could instead provide the bridge between Boca and Chelsea.
