West Ham United have AC Milan’s Youssouf Fofana on their transfer agenda for the summer.
West Ham could bring the midfielder to the Premier League but face a battle, especially from France.
Fofana spent four years at AS Monaco and left them for the Serie A side in August 2024. Since moving to the San Siro, the Frenchman has regularly featured for the Rossoneri, making 84 appearances.
This includes 32 matches from this season, where he managed two goals and four assists.
His Serie A stats this season are as follows:
- Appearances: 29
- Starts: 25
- Total minutes: 1,990
- Minutes per game: 69
- Interceptions per game: 0.5
- Tackles per game: 1.3
- Possession won (final third): 0.5
- Ball recovered per game: 2.7
- Clearances per game: 0.6
- Duels won per game: 2.6
West Ham in mix for Fofana
The 27-year-old has been a regular under Massimiliano Allegri, but AC Milan could offload him in the summer.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who cover West Ham United’s interest in Youssouf Fofana in a report focusing on the Italian club’s potential transfer business.
Milan intend to make him available in the market as there’s a need to balance their books. He’s likely to be sold especially if Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka were to arrive on a free transfer.
Fofana already turned down Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in the winter market and is still not considering a move to Turkey.
The Premier League could be an option where ‘particularly West Ham’ are keen. In fact, the Hammers have been following him for the past few years.
He also has an option to return to Ligue 1, where several of his admirers could make offers in the next window.
Former Milan manager Paulo Fonseca valued Fofana at the San Siro and could try to sign him for his current club, Lyon. Marseille would also be in the mix to sign him. Milan, for their part, have already set a €30m price.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have to tussle with the Ligue 1 sides to acquire the player’s signature. Two days ago, Sport Witness relayed news that Milan midfielder Yunus Musah’s agent are trying to take him to West Ham.
Our take: PL stay key for West Ham
The London club are now 17th in the table, two points ahead of 18th placed Tottenham Hotspur.
West Ham United would have to continue in the Premier League, to secure Youssouf Fofana’s services.
His contract expires in 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €28m, and agency Elite 19 Sports Management are representing the player.
