There are new details emerging from Brazil about Guido Rodríguez’s situation at West Ham. As we already covered, he is a Palmeiras target for the 2026 season.
According to UOL, the Brazilian side is actually tracking two Argentine defensive midfielders currently playing in the Premier League. One is Rodríguez, and the other is Nicolás Domínguez, who plays for Nottingham Forest. The report states that both players share the same agency, which has helped open channels of communication.
UOL add that Palmeiras have already made contact to understand the conditions involved in a potential deal for each player. At this stage, the approach is described as exploratory, focused on mapping scenarios rather than advancing negotiations.
But while a Domínguez’s deal might be more expensive for the South American club, Rodríguez’s case stands out due to his contractual situation at West Ham. Now 31, the midfielder is under contract until the middle of next year, with an option for a further 12 months.
His lack of minutes is also a key factor. This season, he has featured in just six of West Ham’s 19 matches, reinforcing his reduced role in the squad.
That context is seen in Brazil as potentially easing his exit, should West Ham be open to talks. Palmeiras are looking for an experienced holding midfielder with immediate impact, and Rodríguez continues to fit that profile on a technical and tactical level.
For now, there is still no formal proposal on the table. Even so, Palmeiras’ continued monitoring and initial contacts suggest that Rodríguez remains a live option, with his situation at West Ham likely to shape the next steps.
