Fenerbahçe have added Bournemouth defender Marco Senesi to their January transfer window list.
That’s according to Takvim. They report that the Turkish side want to strengthen their central defensive options and Bournemouth will be contacted.
Fenerbahçe are targeting various names and Bournemouth’s defender is the latest addition to the list.
A meeting is planned for this weekend regarding the defender, whose Bournemouth contract expires at the end of the season. Terms will be discussed at the meeting. Then a roadmap will be drawn up after that.
Fenerbahçe don’t want to pay a large transfer fee given his contract expires at the end of the season. They instead want to get a deal done for a ‘nominal amount’. The plan, though, is to offer Senesi around €5m a year, an increase from his current salary of €3.25m.
Whether that’s enough to tempt him remains to be seen. It’s also debatable whether Bournemouth will sanction an exit given they’re also losing Antoine Semenyo in January.
They may consider it not worth their time letting Senesi go, particularly if it’s for a low fee given his contract situation.
