Sunderland, Leeds United, Everton and Crystal Palace are in the running to sign FC Lorient’s Arthur Avom.
The midfielder already attracted Premier League interest earlier this year.
Back in March, Sport Witness relayed news of the Black Cats holding direct talks to get ahead of Chelsea.
Fast forward to August and Leeds United, Everton and Crystal Palace have now joined Sunderland in the transfer race.

The Cameroon international moved to Europe when FC Lorient signed him in 2023. A year later, they promoted him to the first team.
He made 68 appearances, managing four goals and seven assists. The 21-year-old’s performances have seen several clubs consider signing him before the window closes next Tuesday.
Sunderland ahead
From France, RC Strasbourg have started talks, likely with their Ligue 1 counterpart, to sign and send him back on loan to Lorient. Stade Rennais are also keeping a close watch on his situation.
Arthur Avom knows Régis Le Bris from the latter’s time at Lorient, even though he didn’t make an appearance under the Sunderland boss. It’s possible the Frenchman is leading his side’s pursuit.
Sunderland, Leeds United, Everton, Crystal Palace, Club Brugge and Fenerbahçe are all in the running to sign the 21-year-old.
The Stadium of Light club are in a ‘strong position’ to sign the player, after offering him a four-year contract. Africa Foot doesn’t clarify whether this is enough to convince Avom.
He is in his final year of contract, and Transfermarkt value him at €20m. Avom’s suitors can take advantage of this to force Lorient to sell him for a bargain price.
The Cameroonian, for his part, isn’t refusing to close the door on a move before deadline day.
“The transfer window is still open. Anything can happen between now and then,” he told Africa Foot.
