Feyenoord star Anis Hadj Moussa is good enough to join Manchester City as expectations continue to grow for him to secure a big move next year.
The winger arrived at the Eredivisie side in July 2024 and has enjoyed a good run. He managed 32 goals and 15 assists from 96 matches, and seven goals and three assists are from this season.
Manchester City haven’t shown interest, or there isn’t anything credible from top sources about their desire to sign him just yet.
Manchester City option floated
In his debut season, Anis Hadj Moussa scored in the 3-3 draw against the Citizens in the Champions League. Dennis te Kloese was the Dutch club’s sporting director and had then joked about selling him to Manchester City.
There was expectation for the France-born Algeria international to leave Feyenoord in the summer window. That didn’t happen despite reports linking him to Newcastle United.
His impressive performances have led to suggestions in the Dutch press of a potential big move in 2027. Last week, former Denmark international Kenneth Perez insisted that the player is not good enough for Manchester City and Liverpool.
Speaking to Sportnieuws, Tuvalu manager Robert Maaskant doesn’t share the same views as Perez about Enzo Maresca’s side. He backed the Feyenoord attacker to make a switch to the Etihad.
What player will cost
Robert Maaskant insists Anis Hadj Moussa’s asking price, which was €40m in the summer, hasn’t dropped.
“With all due respect to the teams in the Eredivisie, making moves against the bottom nine teams in the league doesn’t impress, not even internationally. In the Champions League, it does,” he said.
“I enjoy watching that player. There are very few in the world who can make a move so effortlessly. Let’s hope he stays at Feyenoord for another six months. Then they will really be in the title race. What was his value, €40m? That won’t have decreased after his performances.”
On where the player can move next, Maaskant explained: “I can see him playing in Spain just as easily. Especially in Italy. I was watching Manchester City for a bit on Saturday, and then I think: he can play there too.”
“I watched Jeremy Doku on Saturday; admittedly, he plays from the left side, he might be a bit more explosive and a bit fiercer, but Hadj Moussa is just as threatening. Again: he is judged on his Champions League matches. I expect him to choose the big money, and I wouldn’t consider that unwise.”
