Manchester City

History

Founded in 1880 as St. Mark’s (West Gorton) and becoming Manchester City in 1894, the club has evolved from a local church team into a global powerhouse. After early FA Cup success in 1904 and a golden era in the late 1960s, the club experienced financial, ownership, and performance instability, including relegation in 1998. Following a 2008 takeover by Sheikh Mansour, City entered a dominant era, winning multiple Premier League titles, a 2019 domestic treble, and their first Champions League in 2023 under Pep Guardiola.
