Talk around Federico Chiesa’s situation at Liverpool has never gone away. There are increasing signs his spell at Anfield could be coming to an end.

In the summer. there was limited movement around the attacker. It was clear clubs would be interested in landing him and brief attempts were made to explore the market too.

No concrete moves were made, as Chiesa also picked up a fitness issue during pre-season. This has left him on the sidelines at Liverpool, and he is yet to yet to return.

This hasn’t stopped talk around a possible exit.

Player on the market soon

Calciomercato report that even when Chiesa is back fit, he will have to play catch-up at Liverpool. Several other attackers are at the top of the pecking order and this makes a January exit a necessity.

The English press have indicated he will return to training soon but CM note that he could pack his bags in January. He now wants game time and is desperate to play for Roberto Mancini’s Italy national team once again.

He’s on the market in January. Liverpool are aiming to collect €15m from his sale, with Napoli and Inter Milan previously interested.

Chiesa earns €7m per season and it remains to be seen if Italian clubs can afford that.

Player needs to push

Chiesa has never exactly pushed for a transfer, despite all his struggles at Liverpool. If he had, a transfer may have been easy to secure and clubs would have stepped forward for his signature.

He is now 28 and his career is declining. This is the time for him to ask for a transfer, as things clearly won’t change at Anfield. As CM rightly point out, him returning to fitness is unlikely to change things, as Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola are ahead of him in the pecking order.

Chiesa needs a club where he starts regularly and is at the centre of the project.
