AC Milan are unlikely to even contemplate the €50m purchase clause that they have negotiated with Nottingham Forest for Omari Hutchinson.
Calciomercato report that while it is too early into the forward’s loan spell at AC Milan for assessments – or even partial assessment – it’s unlikely that the loan will be made permanent anyway.
Loan not going well
Omari Hutchinson is on loan at Milan until the summer. The Italian side paid €4m for that loan deal, and it includes a figure close to €50m to make it permanent.
‘It will take something extraordinary’ to convince the club to invest such a substantial sum to sign the 22-year-old permanently next summer.
It seems the forward is yet to impress anyone at Milan, including Ruben Amorim. So far, he’s performed well during a brief substitute appearance against Lazio but fared far worse when given a chance to start against Benfica in the Europa League opener.
That’s too little to form even a partial assessment. But it is enough to suggest Milan will not be keen on spending near €50m to get him permanently.

What happens next?
It leads to an uncomfortable question about Hutchinson moving forwards. He already struggled at Nottingham Forest last season following his €43.4m move from Ipswich Town. One goal and eight assists in 42 games is testament to that.
He is currently struggling to get anywhere near the player at Ipswich who scored 14 and registered eight assists in 82 games. Now things are not going particularly well at Milan either.
The hope, presumably, was that he would move to Milan and reignite a developing career that has somewhat stalled in recent years.
In reality, Milan were never likely to get anywhere near activating that clause. It was always a show one to help them to get the loan deal over the line. Now they’re already making it clear that they have no intention of paying the fee to Nottingham Forest.
That will have been the case all along.
