Inês Pereira has insisted that she loved playing for Everton, but couldn’t turn down a move to Deportivo de A Coruña.

Campeon DXT report comments from the 27-year-old today after she was unveiled as a new Depor player this week.

Third time lucky

It’s technically her third time at the club as she’s spent the last two years with them on loan from Everton.

She joined the Toffees from Servete in 2024 but was immediately loaned out to the Spanish side that year. The loan move was extended by another in 2025 and now the move has been made permanent this summer.

That move only came about after a challenging few weeks in which doubts crept in over the feasibility of the permanent transfer. Indeed, the sporting director, was keen to thank both her and Everton for their efforts.

“We are grateful to both her and Everton for their cooperation,” he said.

“She is here today because of how much she loves Dépor and the synergy that developed between us. You already know her – an international goalkeeper.

“Hopefully, we’ll see her at the World Cup again this year. She was the best goalkeeper in Liga F two years ago and had a great season last year.”

Loved Everton

The player then admitted that she had endured a difficult few weeks as the transfer failed to move forwards as she was hoping.

“I found it hard; I was very anxious. I kept saying I wanted to stay at Dépor, but my club was Everton. Right up until the end, I thought I wouldn’t be coming-that I’d have to stay there,” she said.

“Dépor’s project is excellent. I fell in love with the club, the city, and the fans. I feel at home here; I’m close to my family and my girlfriend, so it’s the best of both worlds. I’m very happy to be here.”

She doesn’t want to make it seem like she doesn’t appreciate Everton though. In fact, she admitted she loved the Toffees.

“My weeks at Everton were good,” she added.

“I tried to stay positive and learn. I loved Everton, the quality of the club, and what it offers the players. But I wanted to be here. I want to bring what I learned there back here. That Instagram post was just to keep people guessing (laughs).”
