Crystal Palace gave Darío Osorio a considerable pay rise when bringing him to Selhurst Park, according to information from Chile.
The winger arrived from Midtjylland on deadline day and has already made his first Premier League appearance. Now AS Chile has provided some details about the financial upgrade which came with the move.
They say Osorio will earn around €1.15m (£1m) per season at Crystal Palace. That’s almost three times the salary he was receiving in Denmark before making the move to England.
Crystal Palace salary is big step up
Osorio was reportedly earning around €205k (£178k) per year when he first joined Midtjylland from Universidad de Chile in 2023. A contract extension earlier this year then took his annual earnings to approximately €425k (£370k).
Crystal Palace have apparently gone considerably further. AS Chile puts his new salary at around €1.15m (£1m) per year, which works out at roughly €96k (£83k) per month.
It’s another indication of just how significant this move is for Osorio (and his agent!). The 22-year-old spent three years developing in Denmark before getting his Premier League opportunity. He’s now getting the financial rewards that come with it as well.
How Osorio compares with other Chileans
Despite that big rise, Osorio still isn’t among the very highest-paid Chilean players. AS says Flamengo midfielder Erick Pulgar earns around €3.1m (£2.7m) per year. Guillermo Maripán is said to receive about €2.1m (£1.8m) annually at Internacional.
There are also two Chileans in England currently earning more than the new Palace signing. Ipswich Town’s Marcelino Núñez is reportedly on around €1.4m (£1.2m) per season. Southampton’s Ben Brereton Díaz is put at approximately €1.55m (£1.34m).
So Osorio has received a pretty substantial upgrade without suddenly jumping towards the very top of Chile’s football rich list.
He has at least started getting minutes for his new club. Osorio played just under an hour for Crystal Palace after starting his latest appearance, although he didn’t manage to make much of an impact.
Still, with his salary reportedly almost tripling in the process, Palace will hope he can soon start making that new pay packet look money well spent.
