Tottenham forward Richarlison wants to join Vasco da Gama, and we now have a rather good source for that information: his own teammate Savinho.
This story has been changing almost by the hour in Brazil. Vasco are pushing to sign Richarlison, Atlético Mineiro have joined the race and there have been conflicting reports about what the striker actually wants.
Then Savinho decided to help clear things up, as relayed by ESPN Brazil.
Atlético’s interest prompted one of their fan pages to ask supporters to flood Richarlison’s social media with messages telling him to join the club.
Savinho spotted the post.
The Tottenham winger came through Atlético’s academy and supports the Brazilian club, so naturally he joined in. There was just one problem.
“He told me he wants to go to Vasco, man…” Savinho wrote. He then joked about his own attempt to change Richarlison’s mind: “I told him to go to Atlético… He’ll be happier!”
So there we have it. Richarlison has apparently been telling a Tottenham teammate that he wants Vasco.
Vasco talks are now confirmed
Savinho’s intervention comes at a very interesting moment. Globo Esporte have now confirmed Vasco’s interest and say contacts have started over a deal. Their information backs up an initial report from journalist Lucas Pedrosa.
Globo Esporte say Richarlison doesn’t want to spend the next few months without playing. He’s now willing to listen to all possibilities while waiting for his Tottenham situation to be sorted out.
In that context, club insider outlet Colina 1927 say Richarlison has already given the Brazilian club a positive response. Vasco president Pedrinho is now heavily involved in trying to get Tottenham to release the striker.
The plan is a loan until the end of 2026. According to their information, Richarlison “wants to come no matter what”, regardless of what Vasco can offer him. They also say his salary won’t be a problem.
That would leave Tottenham as the big hurdle. But there’s very little time to get all of this sorted. Brazil’s transfer window closes on Friday.
Still, this has gone from a fan campaign to proper talks very quickly. And while reports continue to fly around Brazil, Savinho has given us the biggest update of the lot.
