Manor Solomon

Tottenham Hotspur loaned out Manor Solomon to Fiorentina in January. It was his second spell away from the club in the campaign and his future remains unknown.

The Israeli winger has had ups and downs in his spell in Florence already.

He was missing for about a month due to a thigh injury but already has two goals for Fiorentina. This played a big role in helping them turn their season around and take them away from a battle with relegation.

The Italian side have an option to buy him permanently and that also stands true for Jack Harrison. SportWitness have covered how a deal for the Tottenham player is appearing more likely, with the 26-year-old having impressed on a more consistent basis.

Solomon himself has now spoken about his future.

No certainty about transfer

Manor Solomon was involved in Fiorentina’s goalless draw against Sassuolo at the weekend. He spoke to DAZN about his situation, focusing specifically on whether he intends to stay in Florence beyond  the current campaign.

He made it clear that he is enjoying his stay at Fiorentina but is unsure about a permanent move.

Solomon said – via Alfredo Pedulla: “I don’t know yet if I’ll stay, but I’ve really enjoyed my time here in Florence. I’ve enjoyed both the environment and the people, and I want to give my all until the end of the season.”

Besides making his admiration clear, Solomon revealed talks with La Viola will take place when the season ends.

“At the end of the season, we’ll talk to the club and decide what to do.”

Our take: Tottenham should accept discount

The last few months have shown that Solomon can have an impact at Fiorentina. It won’t be a surprise if he contributes to more goals before the end of the season, which will further convince the Florence club.

There is every chance Fabio Paratici’s club asks for a discount, though. Italian clubs usually do that and Fiorentina aren’t awash with resources due to issues around stadium construction.

Tottenham have never had the winger as part of their core plans anyway, having signed him for free. The option to buy in Solomon’s current deal stands at €10m and even a discount on that will go down as a capital gain for Spurs.
