Hull City are in the picture to sign Young Boys’ Jaouen Hadjam this summer.
The Tigers now have Ryan Giles and Matty Jacob as their two recognised left-backs. The latter joined Reading on loan in July 2025 before Hull City cut short his stay in January.
Sergej Jakirović mainly utilised Giles last season and had to look at alternatives when he suffered two different injuries.
The Hull City manager relied upon centre-back Akin Famewo and right-back Lewie Coyle on the left side during Giles’ absence.
Following their promotion to the Premier League, the English club are likely to bring in a new left-back this summer.
Earlier this month, Sport Witness relayed news that Hull City can offer Lazio’s Luca Pellegrini an escape route, after holding direct talks.
Another left-back target for Hull City
Sergej Jakirović’s side also have Young Boys defender Jaouen Hadjam on their agenda, according to Foot Mercato.
The outlet points out the 23-year-old has established himself as a key player since joining them from Paris FC in January 2024. He has played 96 matches for the Swiss club, and his performances helped him cement a place with Algeria.
Hadjam is now with the national team, and his immediate focus is on the World Cup. They are third in the table, level on points with second placed Austria, their next opponent.
Behind the scenes, the fullback is also a ‘hot topic in the transfer market’. Recent claims from elsewhere have mentioned Como’s interest.
Foot Mercato relays it and claims the Tigers are ‘keen to make a splash’ this summer and have identified Hadjam as a left-back target. Their title says the English club are making a move, but it isn’t backed up within the report.
Hull City would have to be wary of competition from the Bundesliga. The report doesn’t cover the player or Young Boys’ stance on a summer move.
Hadjam’s contract, value and agent info
The Algeria international’s contract runs down in 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €7m. The highest value was €9m in June 2025.
Jaouen Hadjam is represented by an agency, Deal With My Agent.
