Nottingham Forest have been working on a deal to sign Davide Frattesi but Brighton could now be threatening their chase.
Sport Witness have covered how Inter Milan have been keen on executing the Italian’s sale this summer. His exit to the City Ground couldn’t go through last summer as they failed to sign a replacement in time.
Now, Nottingham Forest have made in-roads over a deal again. There has been a gap in valuation between the two clubs, with Juventus also in the chase. There is a chance the 26-year-old could be swayed by a stay in Serie A but the Old Lady have not made a formal offer.
With the situation now evolving, Brighton have moved into the picture.
Seagulls interested in two players
Gianluca Di Marzio reports about the Seagulls’ moves in Serie A. They are looking at the Italian top-flight with a lot of interest, especially after qualifying for Europe.
Brighton are competing with Nottingham Forest for Frattesi but they appear quite keen on Atalanta’s Honest Ahanor too.
A delegation from Fabian Hurzeler’s side has spoken to the defender’s entourage. For now, a deal is likely to be difficult because of the Bergamo club’s stance.
They are unlikely to let the youngster depart, having seen him impress significantly last season. They paid €16m plus bonuses of €4m, which is usually a major amount in Serie A.
As for Frattesi, Di Marzio doesn’t go beyond the mention of simple interest.
Same entourage at work
Interestingly, Frattesi and Ahanor are represented by the same agency. And they have been working with clubs in England closely, which should be a positive for Brighton.
But this could also be one way of rushing Nottingham Forest into their move for Frattesi. Pereira’s side haven’t made an improved offer for the midfielder.
