Luca Pellegrini has had a strange few years in Italy and Hull City can now offer him an escape.
The left-back was, at a point, one of the best youngsters in the Italian game. After coming through the Roma academy, he joined Juventus and also had a loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt.
He has been at Lazio since 2023 but the club’s struggles have constantly held him back. In the second half of the 2025/26 campaign, he found himself on the bench many times, playing only four league games since March.
Despite obvious technical abilities, he has hit a ceiling in Italy. Now, Hull City have held discussions for him.
Move taking shape
Tuttomercatoweb report Pellegrini’s future in Rome is yet to be ascertained. He was one of Maurizio Sarri’s favoured players but his exit can possibly lead to the left-back’s sale.
While Como are interested, Hull City have held ‘direct discussions’ over a transfer.
Como haven’t stepped forward, and Lazio can consider his exit due to contractual reasons. His current deal runs out in 2027 and there have been no discussions over a renewal. This can force the Rome club into a sale.
Lazio aren’t playing in Europe next season, with Rino Gattuso stepping in as new manager. The Italian’s stance on Pellegrini’s could be important, as he plans for a new project.
Deal won’t be expensive
Considering his lack of usage in 2026 and contract situation, Pellegrini won’t cost much. This can prove to be an advantage for Hull City, as the Italian can also play in midfield and as a wing-back.
His career has only lacked stability and a sporting project where he can thrive. The 27-year-old can also comfortably invert into midfield, another tactical usage which can be perfected in England.
