Martin Baturina was the star of the show for Como on their Champions League debut and Aston Villa’s task of signing him is becoming difficult.
Since the second half of last season, the Croatian has arguably been the Italian club’s most important player. He has two goals and one assist in Serie A, contributing to 17 goals in 38 games in all competitions for Como.
Sport Witness have previously covered Premier League interest in the attacker. Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham have been mentioned as suitors and now, Baturina’s valuation is growing consistently.
Villans have big task

Tuttomercatoweb take note of his heroics on Thursday, as he charted history for the lakeside club. He is described as a ‘quiet hero’, who prefers doing his talking on the pitch.
They also reveal that gymnastics has had a big part to play in his success. He trained in gymnastics for seven years and that sense of balance can be seen in how he plays.
The outlet add background to Aston Villa’s interest, noting Unai Emery’s side offer for him in the last few months. They put forward €55m for his signing, however, his valuation is at a new high.
Como want €80m to consider his sale and that can increase.

Our take: Player could be out of reach

Como are no strangers to setting massive valuations for their players. That is why Tottenham failed to sign Nico Paz last year, as the Lombardy club wouldn’t sell him for below their asking price.
Now, Baturina is arguably a more important player than the Argentine. His value will definitely increase and Aston Villa could well be out-priced because of that.
Besides, Como may not have a reason to sell the 23-year-old either. They could challenge for the Serie A title and even next season, should play in the Champions League again.
