Wolves‘ Santiago Bueno is edging closer towards completing a move to Club América, a source has told Sport Witness.
The Uruguay international arrived at Molineux from Girona in 2023 and was a regular in the last two seasons.
His performances and Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League had seen him attract interest from top flight clubs.
Leeds United, Crystal Palace, Brentford and West Ham United had all shown interest, but none of them made advances. On August 13th, Sport Witness reported the centre-back was waiting for a ‘good club’ from the Premier League.
A move back to the Premier League never materialised while César Peixoto hasn’t handed him minutes this season.
Wolves man on his way to Mexico
Sport Witness can confirm that the Wolves player is closing in on a move to Club América.
Santiago Bueno can still change clubs even though the English window closed last week. The one in Mexico remains open until Friday and he has just over 24 hours to join his new club.
Wolves sanctioning loan move
The South American has a contract until 2028 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is now €10m.
Club América will sign him on loan with an option to buy. The same source has told us the purchase option will be $10m [€8.6m]. Sport Witness sources haven’t confirmed whether there are conditions to make his stay permanent.
Santiago Bueno will travel to Mexico on Friday for a medical and other transfer formalities to complete his loan move to Club América.
The Uruguayan played 85 matches for the English club, managing four goals and three assists.
