Tottenham are closing in on a directorial appointment and this can also impact a possible transfer at Brighton.
Piero Ausilio worked at Inter Milan for over 20 years, operating in various capacities. In recent seasons, he also took over as sporting director, overlooking a sporting project which has been stable and has kept the club competitive at the highest level.
His spell at the Nerazzurri has now ended, as the parties failed to find an agreement over a renewal. There were disagreements over wages and contract length, with Sport Witness having covered details of a move to Tottenham.
Roberto De Zerbi is close to the 54-year-old and wants to work with him in London.
While Ausilio’s exit leaves Inter short, they recruited internally, promoting Dario Baccin as the sporting director. The move can impact Brighton, who can find themselves threatened by Inter.
Ayari situation linked
L’Interista take note of Inter’s possible plans with Baccin at the helm. He wants to have an immediate impact in a new role and has several possible targets that will help in that regard.
One profile is that of Brighton’s Yasin Ayari, who appeals to Baccin because his contract runs out in 2027.
Inter can lose both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu, leaving them looking at the market for additions. Ayari is seen as a good fit and his possible free agency status is also very appealing.
Hint at possible Ausilio interest

At Inter, Ausilio, Baccin and CEO Beppe Marotta worked very closely. That is why the club was very stable and had a very clear vision. It gave the impression of a well-oiled club where all three worked in perfect tandem.
As a result, it won’t be a surprise if Ausilio is also a big fan of Ayari. He – like Marotta, is adept at finding market opportunities and Ayari could be perfect.
So if Tottenham lose a midfielder, it won’t be a surprise if the 22-year-old is a target
