Chelsea’s owners have turned their attention to another Sevilla youngster, with 18-year-old Nico Guillén now being closely watched by BlueCo.
The midfielder has already had a taste of senior football this season and produced a standout performance for Sevilla Atlético at the weekend.
Ficherio report BlueCo, the group behind Chelsea and Strasbourg, are carrying out an ‘exhaustive’ follow-up on Guillén.
Their scouts have very favourable reports on the youngster and his development at Sevilla.
There is no offer at this stage. Sevilla are also in a strong position after recently renewing his contract and increasing his release clause.
Two goals after getting first-team chance
The timing of BlueCo’s interest couldn’t be better. He scored twice as Sevilla Atlético beat Marbella 3-0 on Sunday, with the second getting plenty of attention in Spain.
ElDesmarque describe it as a ‘brutally great goal’. Guillén anticipated the play to win possession before taking the ball into his path. He then sent a left-footed effort into the top corner. His other goal came from the penalty spot.
The 18-year-old hasn’t spent the whole season with Sevilla’s reserves either.
Manager Luis García Plaza included him in his first-team plans during the opening weeks of the campaign. Guillén started against Rayo Vallecano and later got minutes away at Athletic Club at San Mamés.
Once Sevilla completed their summer business, he returned to the B team to continue getting regular football. He’s certainly making the most of that.

There’s also a recent connection which makes BlueCo’s attention worth following. Strasbourg signed Joaquín Martínez ‘Oso’ from Sevilla during the summer window for €10m (£8.7m). The Spanish club also secured 10% of a future sale.
Oso has made an excellent start in France, and Ficherio say that has encouraged BlueCo to keep a close eye on Sevilla’s academy. And Guillén is now the youngster catching their attention.
However, Sevilla sporting director José Ignacio Navarro isn’t worried about the situation yet. He points towards the player’s new deal and makes clear nothing concrete has arrived.
“Nico Guillén has just renewed his contract, his clause has gone up and, as of today, there is no offer on the table,” he said.
That leaves Chelsea and the wider BlueCo operation at the scouting stage for now. But after what happened with Oso this summer, BlueCo clearly have another Sevilla academy player on their radar.
