Hong Kong FC’s William Mirwasser has emerged as a surprise transfer target for both Everton and Blackburn Rovers.

The 17-year-old’s development in Asia has caught the attention of a few European clubs. This includes Everton and Blackburn Rovers from England.

Mirwasser left French side FC Issy to join Hong Kong FC in 2023. He was initially part of their youth team and made four appearances for their U22 side.

Last year, the Frenchman made his way into their first team and played 1,506 minutes from 19 matches. Majority of them were in his preferred role as right-back while he also operated as a wing-back, centre-back and a left-back.

The teenager is attracting interest from Everton, the Championship side and a few other clubs.

Everton and Blackburn Rovers approaches

L’Equipe have a report on William Mirwasser, and their title says he’s in contact with the Toffees and Tony Mowbray’s side.

Although he’s now at Hong Kong FC, the versatile player has a desire to return to Europe. The newspaper had already reported about this in November 2025. Almost a year later, they have come up with fresh updates.

Fifa regulations, as per L’Equipe, won’t let him leave Hong Kong FC until he turns 18 years of age next August. However, that hasn’t stopped him from contacting a few clubs.

The youngster hasn’t received a call-up from France’s youth teams. He took advantage of the recently concluded international break to visit Everton and Blackburn Rovers.

RC Strasbourg and US Lecce are also keen, and the defender will visit these clubs during November’s international break.

A source close to the player said: “The idea behind these trips is to visit the training centres of these clubs, but also to discuss the player’s future. Nothing has been decided yet on this matter, so we want to take the time to explore all the possibilities available to him before he commits to a new club next summer.”

Versatility can benefit Everton

William Mirwasser’s preferred role is on the right side of defence while he can operate across the backline.

David Moyes has the right-back position covered with Jake O’Brien and summer signing Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Vitaliy Mykolenko is the only recognised left-back and suffered an injury while with Ukraine earlier this month. The French youngster can be an option for Everton to provide cover and competition to Mykolenko.

For now, Mirwasser is visiting clubs that are showing interest in him. His suitors have to wait until August 28th 2027 to bring him to the club.
