Marseille have made an attempt to sign Chelsea‘s Emmanuel Emegha, and he’s open to joining them this summer.

Last September, the Premier League side agreed a deal with RC Strasbourg for the striker to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.

But! Football Club cover Marseille’s interest and their chances of securing the 23-year-old’s services.

The French club have allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Deportivo A Coruña while Amine Gouiri’s future remains uncertain.

Therefore, Marseille contacted the Chelsea player earlier in this window and aren’t closing the door on his arrival. Their desire is to sign Emmanuel Emegha on loan.

Chelsea change plan for player

The Premier League side’s initial plan was to include him in their squad this season. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, as it’s not certain he will have a major role under Xabi Alonso.

Emmanuel Emegha suffered an injury in May, and the Ligue 1 side confirmed the setback. He was out of action for 66 days before suffering another setback last month, forcing him to miss pre-season.

Chelsea now have several options, including keeping him or letting him leave on loan or a permanent transfer. The Blues not closing the door on transfer should please the French club.

The outlet states: ‘According to our information, Marseille requested his medical report during their initial inquiries. And the information provided by Chelsea didn’t entirely reassure the Marseille management. This was a significant enough factor to dampen Marseille’s enthusiasm for the transfer.’

Emegha, for his part, ‘finds himself in limbo’ regarding his future. He’s open to joining the Ligue 1 side, after a spell at RC Strasbourg, but the fitness concern is slowing down his potential exit operation.

It’ll be interesting to see whether he will stay or move elsewhere in the coming days.
