Earlier today, we covered reports from the Spanish media which explained Real Betis will no longer be getting all their own way when it comes to signing Mateo Joseph from Leeds United.

Just like Betis have been stringing Manchester United along with Antony, they were doing the same with the Yorkshire club and their young striker. Mateo Joseph had even been convinced to refuse to go on Leeds United’s pre-season tour as he tried to force a transfer.

Real Betis’ plan has been to drag both the Mateo Joseph and Antony situations out until the end of the window, and then put pressure on Leeds United and Manchester United and get the deals they want.

Well, according to fresh claims in Spain, RCD Mallorca are pushing ahead to snatch Mateo Joseph from Betis’ clutches. Whether they’ll be successful or not remains to be seen, but Betis could lose out on Antony as well.

CNN Portugal journalist Bruno Andrade reports Benfica are now working to sign the Brazilian. The Lisbon club have made two approaches for Antony, and, just like Betis are trying to negotiate a loan, but could work to buy a percentage of the player.

Manchester United may well prefer to deal with Benfica, especially if there’s any players at the club who have caught their eye.

Real Betis have messed them around this summer, therefore the Red Devils will welcome all the interest they can get.
