Earlier this week, Corriere dello Sport reported Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee is keen on a move to AS Roma.
The Dutchman is optimistic about a rebirth under Gian Piero Gasperini, who sees the striker as a key January target.
Even if Roma are hopeful of a move, the details stage is when excitement runs into difficulties.
Today’s Corriere dello Sport reports agent commissions are expected to be a problem for the Italian side. This was also the case when Zirkzee was leaving Bologna, and may be why he ended up at Manchester United rather than another Serie A club.
Zirkzee has already given approval to the move. The demands of his agent Kia Joorabchian will be an issue, having previously denied AC Milan the chance to sign the player in 2024.
Agreement with Manchester United and then agent

Roma are not giving up, though. Sporting director Ricky Massara wants to reach an agreement with Manchester United before sorting out agent commission.
The Giallorossi have no intention of asking for a dry loan deal. They want to propose an initial loan with the option to buy. This will be done to keep Zirkzee motivated for a possible permanent move to Rome.
Manchester United aren’t expected to be easy to deal with. They are likely to insert more conditions into the deal. To counter this, Roma could insert an obligation to buy based on potential Champions League qualification.
The newspaper believe the deal is now entering a crucial point, with the 24-year-old keen on more game time.
