Newcastle United were among the clubs to be linked with Feyenoord’s Anis Hadj Moussa in the summer window.
Former Feyenoord and Netherlands midfielder Willem van Hanegem has issued a warning to the forward.
Writing in his latest column for Algemeen Dagblad Van Hanegem is unhappy with the 24-year-old.

The Magpies links appeared after the Premier League side appointed Matthias Jaissle as Eddie Howe’s successor in August.
Jaissle arrived at Newcastle United from Al-Ahli. He wanted the 24-year-old at the Saudi Arabian club and was reportedly keen on bringing him to St. James’ Park.
On August 5th, Magpies sporting director Ross Wilson denied any agreement to sign the Algeria international.
A week later, Sport Witness covered a report from Algeria explaining that the Tyneside club won’t sign him despite the hype. He came close to securing a move to Al-Ittihad before the move collapsed.
Transfer links can impact player
Willem van Hanegem played for the Eredivisie side between 1968 and 1976 and managed them between 1992 and 1995.
He believes the transfer links, including those of Newcastle United, have impacted Anis Hadj Moussa.
“Feyenoord gave him a chance at the top level after Vitesse, at a time when he was still of little significance,” he said.
“Now that there is interest in him, he is acting annoyingly. Yes, he can earn a lot of money. He certainly won’t be playing for free at Feyenoord, but apart from all this: he just needs to act normal.”
Feyenoord will travel to the Camp Nou to face Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Dutch club’s legend urges Hadj Moussa to get his act together for the trip to Spain.
Van Hanegem explained: “If he does indeed stay, goes to Barcelona, and is on time for the bus and the team meeting, then surely you expect something from him at the Camp Nou.”
