Blackburn Rovers and Burnley are now battling to sign Jordan Ayew outside the transfer window.

Free agent status benefits Championship duo
The 34-year-old joined Leicester City in 2024 when they were in the Premier League and signed a two-year contract.
Last summer, he contemplated leaving the Foxes following their relegation from the top flight. In the end, he stayed and finished the season with six goals and three assists from 42 Championship matches.
Leicester City dropped to League One and released Jordan Ayew, after his contract expired. He hasn’t found a new club since leaving the King Power Stadium.
This presents Blackburn Rovers, Burnley or another club the chance to sign him immediately, even though the English window closed on September 1st.
Blackburn Rovers and Burnley battle?
Footy-Africa reports Tony Mowbray’s side are negotiating with the Ghana international over the possibility of a move to Ewood Park.
Blackburn Rovers aren’t alone as the Clarets are also keen on signing the former Aston Villa man.
He first arrived in the UK when the Villans signed him in 2015. Since then, he had spells at Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.
Jordan Ayew’s status as a free agent has seen him receive offers from Cyprus, APOEL Nicosia and Apollon Limassol. However, he rejected them as his desire is to continue in England.
Blackburn Rovers and Burnley are his options, and the former are already in talks with the frontman.
Among these two, he finds Rovers particularly attractive. The latter are working to find an agreement with the player and Footy-Africa adds Nicky Hayen’s side continue to closely monitor Ayew’s situation.
On Sunday, Burnley confirmed to have signed Jamie Vardy on a free transfer. His arrival is likely to rule them out of the race for Ayew, which the outlet haven’t taken into account.
