Manchester City

Manchester City’s Rayan Aït-Nouri is a potential target for Juventus as they seek a left-back signing for Luciano Spalletti.

Tuttomercatoweb report that Juventus are tracking the 25-year-old before the end of the transfer window.

The website reports that after bolstering their defence with Jhon Lucumí, Juventus are keen to provide Spalletti with a ‘deeper, more complete squad’. Signing a left-side player is now among the priorities for the club’s leadership.

Rayan Aït-Nouri has now emerged as a potential option in the last few options. The Manchester City man is very much the alternative target at this point.

Back up option

Juventus are prioritising a deal for Real Madrid’s Álvaro Carreras. But the complexities of that deal have caused Juventus to look at other solutions. Aït-Nouri is a player who offers different characteristics, but the belief is that he would be well-suited to ‘Spalletti’s tactical project’.

Negotiations with Manchester City may prove to be difficult, though. The full back is tied to the Etihad to 2030 after signing a five-year deal last summer when he signed from Wolves.

That long contract will allow Manchester City to set ‘high asking prices’ and reject anything they deem inadequate.  The 25-year-old cost them €36.8m last summer so they would, presumably, want to at least make their money back.

There’s no mention of an asking price from Tuttomercatoweb at this point. But the clear belief is that Manchester City won’t allow Juventus to get the left-back on the cheap.

Juventus need

The Italian side want to sign a credible alternative to first-choice Andrea Cambiaso. He, ironically, has been linked with Manchester City in the past.

Juventus face a busy season of league and European football – they’re competing in the Europa League. There is concern that could expose the team to ‘clear risks’.

Aït-Nouri would be a ‘ready-made, athletic solution’ to their needs and his ability to play in a back four or three would allow Spalletti to change more in games.

For now, he is only the back-up option but that could change if negotiations with Real Madrid do not pick up.
