After what felt likes months of searching, Celtic finally settled on Ange Postecoglou as the man to take over from Neil Lennon at Parkhead.
The Greece born Australian manager has a huge task ahead of closing the gap created by Steven Gerrard’s Rangers last season, and he starts his job today, Wednesday June 23rd.
One of his first jobs will be to assess the squad at his disposal and decide who he wants to keep and who he wants to get rid of, with one team in particular hoping he doesn’t decide to rely on Maryan Shved.
The winger was loaned by Celtic to KV Mechelen last season, where he made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and assisting three times.
Mechelen ‘previously indicated they were interested in loaning’ the Ukraine international ‘for another year’, but Celtic were first waiting to see what their new manager had in mind.
We’ll have to wait and see what Postecoglou decides to do with Shved, but the Belgian side will be praying he sees him as surplus to requirements, at least for another season.
