Between 2014 and 2016, Mirco Antenucci was a Leeds United player.
Arriving from Ternana in a £675k transfer, the striker would end up playing 80 times for the Elland Road club, scoring 19 times and assisting another eight.
He never managed to get Leeds back to the Premier League, and left for Pescara on a free transfer to return to his home country, where he now plays for Bari in Serie C.
Still, his time in the north of England is one he’ll always cherish, growing fond of the club during his time there, which is why he remains a fan to this day.
He said: “I love that club. I was lucky to have an experience in such a club. It’s incredible. I cheer them on. They are second, I hope they’ll go to the Premier League. They have a heated fanbase. I remember it fondly. It’s a city that deserves it.”
Now managed by Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds currently sit second in the Championship table on 71 points after 38 games, recently returning to action after a few months of forced break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, their first game back didn’t go quite as planned, as they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Cardiff.
