Arsenal have ‘intensified talks’ for the signing of Athletico Paranaense midfielder Bruno Guimarães, according to claims from Brazil today.
Goal Brasil say the Gunners were only planning to make a move in the summer, but have now decided to come in strong for the 22-year-old.
It’s said Arsenal are ‘studying’ the possibility of making an offer for Bruno this week. Since he has a Spanish passport, he’d have no problems getting a work permit for the Premier League.
The report says that the London side have been following Bruno Guimarães for a long time, even before he joined Athletico in 2017.
According to Goal Brasil, Athletico have already rejected a bid of €20m from Benfica for the player, as they expect to make between €25m and €30m from his sale.
Arsenal’s interest in the player has been confirmed by Athletico president Mario Celso Petraglia. In an interview with the Portuguese press, he said the Gunners would only come for the player in the summer.
