Leicester City couldn’t find a deal for the signing of Adrien Silva from Sporting.

On Wednesday morning, all the Portuguese newspapers were treating the transfer as done, and the Foxes were said to have agreed a double deal for the midfielder plus Islam Slimani.

CapturarHowever, the negotiations were done separately, and despite having successful talks for the striker, Leicester didn’t reach what Sporting were demanding for Adrien Silva.

According to Record, Leicester were willing to pay €30m up front plus €5m in bonuses. But Sporting wanted at least €35m guaranteed.

The player, who has a €45m release clause, would have earned four times more at Leicester than what he makes in Lisbon.

By staying, Adrien will probably live an awkward situation at the club, at least for a few weeks. The 27-year-old had given an interview where he confirmed he was joining Leicester, which was followed by an official statement from Sporting saying there was no deal until someone paid his release clause.

Now Record say the player is set to lose his captaincy, and the subject will be addressed by the management soon.
