From all the transfer rumours we cover every day, there’s nothing more generic than a Matteo Darmian story from Calcio Mercato. They keep insisting that Italian sides are set for a big race for the Manchester United fullback very soon, even though this story has been out for a year now.
Earlier this week, the website had claimed that AS Roma joined the battle, as they are not happy with the fullback options they have in the squad.
Now there’s an update saying that Inter Milan remain interested in Darmian, and are actually ahead of their Serie A rivals in the competition.
As Inter are currently sorting the departure of Dalbert Henrique, this move would convince them to go for Darmian in the January market.
Just like they did when reporting Roma’s interest, Calcio Mercato doesn’t expect Darmian to move only when his contract with Manchester United expires in the summer of 2019. They think the Serie A clubs are making their attempts in January.
Darmian has only one appearance for Manchester United this season, which was in the opening Premier League match against Leicester City. Jose Mourinho has edged Darmian aside and with Luke Shaw showing the level he is currently, and Diogo Dalot impressing on his debut, Darmian is less needed.
