Despite arriving this summer in a €6m transfer from Libertad in Paraguay, Enso González has yet to make his debut for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 18-year-old is being eased into life in England by Gary O’Neil and his staff, who are seemingly only prepared to use him when they feel he is ready for the step up.

In the meantime, he continues his adaptation, and has been speaking to Versus in his home country, where he revealed he has had a chat with compatriots Miguel Almirón and Julian Enciso, currently contracted at Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.

It was the Newcastle man that gave him the most, as González said: “Almirón advised me on that. I was talking with him about the issue of me not being called up yet, and so on. He told me that this is how it is, that he also went through it, that he suffered, but that from one day to the next, and at any moment, it can change, and that I have to be prepared to take advantage of that moment.”

In the meantime, the Wolves man will follow the Newcastle star’s advice, even if he would much rather be playing.

After all, the decision is Gary O’Neil’s to make, and there is little doubt that this patient approach has been put together to try and maximise the impact González can have at Wolves further down the line.

As for Newcastle’s Almirón, he continues to be an important player for Eddie Howe, scoring four goals in 17 appearances in all competitions this season.
