Bayer Leverkusen are hoping Tottenham do not make an offer for defender Edmond Tapsoba, but that is unlikely to be the case.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say an offer from Tottenham ‘will come’ and they ‘want to offer’ €40m for the defender this summer.
Tapsoba has long been linked with a move to England after impressing in the Bundesliga for the last few years, and this summer it is Spurs who have been linked the most.
Last month it was claimed that they had the centre back in their sights and could make an offer of €50m for him as part of the rebuild under Ange Postecoglou.
That was followed by a report on the 10th of this month stating talks were expected to start soon and then another claiming an offer worth €30m plus had been put on the table.
SportBILD follow that up and suggest no such offer has been made as yet and Leverkusen are hoping that remains the case as they don’t want to sell the 24-year-old.
However, the newspaper’s information is that Tottenham ‘want to offer €40m’ for the defender and Tapsoba wants to move to England.
Sports director Simon Rolfes isn’t particularly interested in selling him but at this level of money, would be forced to accept and let Tapsoba go.
It seems, then, all Tottenham need to do is put the money on the table and this deal will then be an easy one to get over the line.
