Just in case Ronald Koeman thought he’d be getting sympathy from the Catalan media for his Everton woes… he can nest rest assured that’s not going to happen.

Koeman, a legend at Barcelona for helping the club to their first European Cup, had repeatedly flirted with the Camp Nou during the summer.

Not outright saying he’d leave Everton for the position, with the Dutchman well aware he was never the frontrunner, Koeman gave the Catalan media repeated soundbites which made the situation as clear as he could.

Despite that cosying-up, there’s no excuses being made for his Everton troubles. Several times a week Catalan newspaper Sport hand out a series of cards for poor sports performance, and Koeman has been given a yellow card for being a bit rubbish at Everton right now.

Sport believe the defeat to Arsenal could be pivotal, and Koeman is now ‘on the brink’ at Goodison Park.

The manager’s poor start to the season, which could result in the Everton sack, obviously won’t help his long term hopes of the Barcelona job.
