Marca, unsurprisingly, aren’t quite as confident as the Catalan media about Philippe Coutinho arriving at Barcelona during the January transfer window.

The Madrid based newspaper have been calmer on the potential transfer throughout, and it’s not only that they don’t think Coutinho’s arrival is a sure thing this winter, they also don’t think Barcelona are quite as desperate as some suggest.

With Ousmane Dembele signed in the summer, and then injured very quickly, Marca say the Frenchman is actually a ‘de facto’ January signing already in the bag. Therefore it’s questionable whether Barcelona really need to go to battle with Liverpool, and then face the prospect, if successful, of letting both players get used to the team at the same time.

Whilst Coutinho remains a Barcelona target, Marca say right now ‘the needs are less pressing’.

There’s not the huge pressure which was around after Neymar left, and which encouraged Barcelona to send Liverpool a huge fee for the Brazilian.

Cup-tied in the Champions League, because of involvement with Liverpool, there’s also that to consider, and Marca seem to doubt if Barca are prepared to rock their boat in January and go into such a transfer battle.
