Everton had a scout in Istanbul on Thursday evening, according to the Turkish press.
Sports Digitale today released a list of clubs who attended the Conference League clash between Fenerbahce and Olympiacos, and the Toffees were included.
With Everton out of European competitions for a while, there’s only one reason for his representative to be there, which is to watch potential targets at those clubs.
Sports Digitale doesn’t have any information on who the Toffees could be keeping an eye on, though, so all that is left is for us to guess a little.
Even though Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu was linked to Everton not long ago, that may be an unrealistic target for the club, as he’s now said to be wanted by Arsenal.
The Turkish side’s midfield has some interesting options, though, with former Manchester United player Fred leading them. Since moving to the Super Lig, the Brazilian has been excellent and many Red Devils fans feel it may not have been the right decision to let him go.
With Amadou Onana potentially leaving in the summer, perhaps Fred could be an option.
Now we should probably keep an eye on the local media and see if Everton show up interested in some of those players. Olympiacos targets sound less likely, as they’d have an easier path to the Premier League by joining the club’s partners at Nottingham Forest.
