Slaven Bilic could be set for a quick return to management after his sacking at Watford, with Trabzonspor considering a move for him.

That’s according to Fanatik, who say Bilic is ‘on the list’ of managerial options that the Turkish side are looking at to replace Abdullah Avcı.

They explain that Bilic is the ‘surprise’ name on the technical director’s list of options as he looks for the club’s next manager.

Avci submitted his resignation to acting president Ertuğrul Doğan in Istanbul yesterday, after an extraordinary general meeting saw President Ahmet Ağaoğlu step down.

That departure has been met with slight sadness given his time at the club but they are not looking back and the focus is now on finding his replacement.

A list of four candidates has already been drawn up, with Sergen Yalçın and Çağdaş Atan at the top of that and Istanbulspor’s Fatih Tekke behind them.

If a deal cannot be found with either of those, though, then there is a ‘familiar name’ sitting in fourth spot and that is Bilic.

He is a free agent after leaving Watford three days ago, less than six months into his reign at Vicarage Road after replacing Rob Edwards in September.

Bilic has a history in Turkey after managing Besiktas from 2013 to 2015, managing them for 89 games before leaving them for a return to West Ham. He’s since had spells at Al-Ittihad, West Brom, BJ Guoan and Watford, but didn’t manage more than 26 games at either of the last two.

Indeed his spell in Turkey is the second longest of his career and that has seemingly earned him enough credit to be ‘on the list’ at Trabzonspor, with president Ertuğrul Doğan ‘expected’ to hire him or one of the other three candidates.
